Overview
We’re looking for a motivated and safety-focused Facility Operator to join our team supporting essential water, wastewater, and natural gas operations. Candidates must hold a Class A or B Water Operator License. In this role, you’ll be hands-on in the field with strong growth potential, a clear career path, and full support from our operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment at water production facilities, booster stations, wastewater treatment plants, and lift stations
- Maintain and repair water and sewer system components such as mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, and pump stations
- Perform water quality testing and adjust chemical or operational processes to meet regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot and repair piping systems and related infrastructure
- Complete service work orders with accurate documentation and system updates
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Support additional fieldwork, maintenance, or emergency response as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must hold a current Class A or Class B Water Operator License
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
Preferred Skills
- Computer proficiency (tablets, spreadsheets, word processing)
- Solid math skills for dosages, flow rates, and treatment ratios
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and follow verbal/written instructions
- Familiarity with water/wastewater safety and environmental practices
- Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Career Progression
- Facility Operator I – Requires Class B Water License
- Facility Operator II – Requires dual licensing and either a B Well or Grade II license
- Facility Operator III – Requires B Well and Grade II, plus A Well or Grade III license
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to outdoor environments, including wet or humid conditions, loud noise, and hazardous materials
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Travel to various field locations across the service area
- On-call shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of a rotating schedule
