Material Handler I – Warehouse | Columbus, NE | $22.70 / hr | Contract-to-Hire

Location : 1852 10th Ave., Columbus, NE 68601

Pay Rate : $22.70 per hour

Contract Length : 3-month contract with potential to convert to permanent hire

Start Date : November 2, 2025

Shift Options Available (please list shift preference on resume) :

  • 1st Shift : 12 : 00 AM – 8 : 00 AM
  • 2nd Shift : 4 : 00 PM – 12 : 00 AM
  • 3rd Shift : 9 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM

Job Summary

An industry-leading distribution operation is seeking a reliable Material Handler I to support pallet and case picking, scanning, packing, and shipment preparation. This position plays a key role in order accuracy, warehouse productivity, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. Ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and are looking for a long-term opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling / Order Fulfillment

  • Process and pick customer orders using RF scanners, barcodes, and labeling.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment.
  • Verify accuracy of orders and ensure proper packaging.

    • Palletizing & Warehouse Support

  • Build pallets, re-palletize products, and place completed orders onto pallets.
  • May assist with dock manifest duties, shrink wrapping, and using walking MHE equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following SOP and safety guidelines.

    • Safety / Quality / Team Support

  • Follow safety policies and report hazards or incidents immediately.
  • Support sanitation and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in cross-training and serve as backup support when needed.
  • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and maintain training compliance.

    • Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or 1 year relevant experience required
  • Experience operating Walkie Rider / Motorized Pallet Jack preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment with minimal supervision
  • Basic skills in reading distribution documentation and using RF scanning devices
  • Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a metrics-driven environment
