Main responsibilities :
The Meat / Seafood Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing the work of the buying team to ensure profitable procurement and timely delivery of products for assigned lines. Works closely with Meat / Seafood / Deli Procurement Manager & Corporate Director, and Sales Managers teams to achieve the goals of the company. Provides supply chain / inventory management for a limited promotionally active desk and corresponding financial accountabilities. Procures product in accordance with all policies and procedures established by the company.
Position is designed to prepare Senior Buyer to move into Procurement Manager Position. Senior Buyer should be able to take over the operation from the Procurement Manager, seamlessly operating in same Aspect & Level as Procurement Manager, managing Financials and Operational Activity across the enterprise.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Ensure that established policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all procurement buying staff.
- Work to obtain inventory and turn goals on assigned buying desk.
- Assist Procurement Manager in setting performance targets for buying team in relation to anticipated and actual sales and see that these are maintained.
- Assist in establishing projected sales and profit quotas on the Quarterly Projection Files.
- Maintains good understanding of P&L Projection Goals / Performance, Average and Ending Inventory Goals, Turns and Days Supply on Hand during the Quarter, as well as participating in Quarterly Projection Meetings.
- Participate’ s in the formulation of broad policies and long-range goals, objectives, plans, programs, and projects of the Distribution Center.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with brokers, vendors, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel.
- Review’s all product costs and marketing plan to ensure items purchased are at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need to meet marketing plan.
- Conducts post-promotional reviews and analysis to determine if promotional requirements were met and if there were problem areas, develops solutions.
- Reviews and resolves Firm Orders, Pre-books / Allocations / scan-based issues received from stores or division personnel.
- Reviews and analyzes daily and weekly reports to check service levels and inventory turns, makes buying decisions as appropriate.
- Visit stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain store feedback and to assess overall implementation & effectiveness as needed.
- Approves Accounts Payable variance processes for assigned items to ensure correct prices have been invoiced and billed to stores.
- Resolves store billing questions by interfacing with distribution and store associates.
- Resolves store distribution issues by acting as a liaison with the warehousing and transportation departments and store associates.
- Maintains all necessary department files and records.
- Coordinates with Warehouse Operations to maintain the proper product flow through the facility, in a timely manner.
- Develop and mentor members of buying team.

The salary range is $80,100 to $104,160 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
