American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Neuro unit with a SC or compact RN license and BLS certification for day shifts and weekend / holiday rotation.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology / Medical Stroke / Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for adult and geriatric patientsPrivate patient rooms, including a reverse air flow room and nine rooms equipped for continuous epilepsy monitoringPatient population includes stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokesSupports Comprehensive Spine and Epilepsy Center programs and may care for overflow neurosurgical and spine surgery patientsPatient ratio is 1 : 5Three 12-hour day shifts per week (7 : 00 AM – 7 : 30 PM)4–5 weekend shifts per 4-week period and holiday rotation requiredFloating within scope to like units and sister facilities may be requiredUses Epic EMRDeliver specialized nursing care for neuro, stroke, and epilepsy patients in a collaborative team environmentMust complete pre-start online modules (average 4 hours)Assignment may include responsibilities in emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)May care for overflow patients from affiliated programs and support comprehensive accreditation initiativesFirst-time travelers acceptedHoliday coverage is required as part of the rotationRequests for block scheduling can be submitted but are not guaranteedRequests for up to 7 days non-holiday RTO may be considered; more requires facility approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active SC or multi-state / compact RN license requiredMinimum of 1 year RN experience requiredCurrent BLS certification required (AHA)ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferredExperience with neurology, stroke, and epilepsy patient populations preferredSocial Security Number and Driver’s License required for considerationEpic EMR experience preferredCandidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be considered for travel positionsPrevious permanent staff or PRN must be separated for 1 year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
