Purpose of Position:
Avon Protection is recognized as a world leader in respiratory and ballistic protection, delivering life critical solutions for Militaries and First Responders worldwide. We are searching for a driven, detail-orientated engineering technician to join our product development engineering team. The engineering technician's responsibility is to support the engineering team in the design, development, and testing of new helmet products. This role will include activities that include but are not limited to assisting with development projects, coordinating and assembling product samples, building prototypes, assist with testing and validation of samples, perform process inspections, and assist with prototype tooling development and installation. Position will be reporting to the Technical Manager, Ballistic Helmets. To be successful as an engineering technician, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of industrial processes and concepts, be able to work well in a team, and contribute to the overall goals of the team. Outstanding engineering technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, a superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for a candidate that has a strong work ethic and ability to pivot multiple projects and tasks in a high energy environment.
Essential Duties and/or Functions: • Support engineers with product development and implementation of products and processes into production.
• Coordinate materials, samples and parts.
• Coordinate the use of production equipment.
• Assemble and produce prototypes for testing and evaluation.
• Conduct tests to evaluate the performance and safety of products.
• Work closely with the engineering team to identify and troubleshoot potential design issues.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Production and Quality, to ensure the successful development of new helmet products.
• Assist in designing test fixtures and other test setups related to new product development.
• Assist with mechanical & electro-mechanical assembly of process equipment and other stations.
• Support plant operations (when needed) with equipment maintenance or other facilities related tasks.
• Contribute to documentation needs as put forth by the Engineering teams.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, perform regular housekeeping duties.
Required Minimum Qualifications: • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• Competent at intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
• Fluently read, write legibly, understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Must know how to operate hand tools and power tools safely
• Ability to safely and accurately operate various PLC controlled production equipment.
• Ability to read and write and interpret technical reports and instructions.
• Ability to file and maintain accurate records.
• Requires mechanical dexterity and attention to detail.
• Possess organizational and time management abilities Preferred/Desired Skills and/or Experiences: • Experience with building, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and assemblies.
• Demonstrate analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.
