Job Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Technical Writer to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and documenting converted data from microfiche, microfilm, and documents into technical data packages (TDPs) that meet U.S. Air Force standards. This role requires proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word to create structured, usable documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Air Force requirements. The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and write technical data packages (TDPs) by compiling and structuring converted data from microfiche, microfilm, and documents.
• Use Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word to create, format, and edit technical documentation, ensuring clear presentation of text, images, and data.
• Collaborate with document conversion and graphics illustration teams to integrate digitized and recreated media into comprehensive TDPs.
• Ensure all documentation adheres to U.S. Air Force standards, including format, structure, and content specifications.
• Perform quality assurance reviews to verify accuracy, completeness, and consistency of technical data packages.
• Maintain version control and organize documentation for secure storage and efficient retrieval.
• Adhere to security protocols and maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials.
• Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
• Work with project managers to meet deadlines and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Document processes and maintain records of TDPs for traceability and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word for creating and formatting technical documentation.
• Strong ability to organize text, images, and data into structured, usable technical data packages.
• Familiarity with U.S. Air Force technical documentation standards and requirements is highly preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (required).
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, error-free documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience with document conversion processes or technical data package development is a plus.
• Basic understanding of graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) is beneficial but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on documentation tasks.
• Visual acuity for reviewing detailed text and images.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 15 pounds.

This position is based in Salt Lake City, UT. Candidates must be able to work on-site.
