Job Summary
As a key member of the healthcare team, the Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients of all ages, including adults, infants, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations. This role requires working independently in acute and critical care settings according to physician orders and departmental policies. You will consult with physicians and staff to make informed treatment recommendations.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program OR eligibility for licensure in South Carolina OR a senior student graduating within 3 months.
Required Certifications
Must possess or be eligible for a South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner license. BLS certification is mandatory, and NBRC credentials must be maintained. Candidates hired before June 2016 may have Certified Respiratory Therapist status.
Those hired from June 2016 onward must pass the Therapist Multiple Choice Exam with a qualifying score and complete the Clinical Simulation Exam within 6 months. Failing the simulation exam results in termination from Prisma Health.
NRP and PALS certifications are required for independent work in the NICU and PICU.
Other Skills and Experience
Effective teamwork, strong communication, computer skills, and organizational capabilities are essential.
