About the role In this role you will be working as a principal engineer on our Fabric development team. This team maintains ownership over databases, data pipelines, distributed systems, and systems development within Xage's products. Principal engineers are expected to have a significant independence and the ability to lend their expertise to help decide the future direction of our team's areas of responsibility. Some examples could be selecting technologies and developing new pipelines or updating existing pipelines to solve problems related to traffic analysis, audit / event detection, improving scalability / performance, or security policy suggestions. Principal engineers are also expected to have developed skills around communication, leadership, empathy, and mentorship to help guide and develop other team members with less experience.

Responsibilities Work closely with a team of engineers to develop and maintain existing internal data pipelines

Drive the future architecture and development of a traffic analysis pipeline

Drive the future architecture and development of an IoT event auditing pipeline

Drive the future architecture and development of a IoT security policy suggestion pipeline

Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders for requirements, architecture, and overall design

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and adopt best practices

Take ownership of projects and initiatives and ensure high quality of deliverables

Skills and Experience Must have 5+ years of experience building enterprise software and strong engineering background

Fluent in one of Go / Java / Rust / C++ software development

Able to learn and adapt to new programming languages as needed

Must have a strong interest and prior experience in data pipelines and data management

Must have an understanding of algorithms and efficient data structures

Must have an understanding of performance and performance analysis in a data pipeline context

Must have strong architectural and design experience building software application across many system layers

Must have passion for improving performance, user experience and scalability

Must have solid coding and debugging skills

Must communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a team environment
