Position

Plans and execute small scale landscaping operations and maintain grounds and landscape of the hospital and its off site grounds. Assists the general maintenance worker in performing general, routine maintenance and serving operations throughout hospital plant and off site areas as directed. This position is part-time and works 48 hours per pay period. Hours will be based on the needs of the facility.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in general maintenance and grounds keeping. 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Physically able to climb or balance
  • Lift, push, pull and carry a weight of up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, and crawl

Responsibilities

  • Perform activities for the maintenance and care of hospital grounds and other hospital properties as directed.
  • Inspect grounds to ensure safe conditions and make recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain gardens and flower beds. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs
  • Rakes and bags leaves
  • Mow and trim lawns, repair lawns; Work with sprinkling equipment, water lawns, flower beds / gardens, shrubs, and trees
  • Clean grounds using rakes, brooms, and hose. Shovel, sweep, and remove debris from grounds. Remove snow from doorways, stairways, walkways and parking lots and spread salt as needed.
  • Empty all trash containers on hospital grounds and other properties. Perform daily trash pick on grounds, including cigarette butts
  • Maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, tractors, plows, etc.
  • Care for and maintain equipment and supplies used in the performance of duties.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment as needed
  • Assists the general maintenance worker in the performance of a variety of routine standard servicing and repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, equipment, furnishing, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition as directed.
  • Make hospital courier runs when needed; , make linen pickup runs; make material and supply runs as needed
  • Perform all other related duties.
