We are seeking an experienced and quality-driven automotive technician to fill an open position in our car dealership’s service department. Compensation : $25 - $35 hourly
Responsibilities :
- Examine all vehicle systems such as the air conditioning, engine, transmission, and brake systems with a step-by-step approach
- Help establish service protocols for tracking the status of repairs, maintaining relevant technical manuals, using charts, and more for all of our dealerships
- Determine and investigate any malfunction codes in the vehicle’s integrated diagnostic system using skilled expertise and diagnostic tools
- Clearly articulate automotive repair issues and repairs needed to remedy them to both customers and auto mechanics
- Facilitate customer satisfaction and repeat business by following all manufacturer specifications for vehicle systems repairs
- Perform thorough multi-point inspections on incoming used vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment
- Conduct repairs and maintenance, including brakes, suspension, engine, transmission, electrical systems, and HVAC
- Prepare used vehicles for resale by ensuring they meet dealership and state safety standards
- Accurately document all work performed and parts used in repair orders
- Collaborate with service advisors and used car managers to prioritize repairs and meet deadlines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines
Qualifications :
Excellent customer service and communications skills are necessaryAutomotive Service Excellence / ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers / SAE certification is preferredHigh school diploma or GED is requiredMust have completed a post-secondary training program in automotive service technology; associate degree a plusHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is a plusMinimum of 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with used vehiclesASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain)Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skillsValid California driver’s license and clean driving recordAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentOwning basic hand tools, the dealership or shop may provide specialty toolsAbout Company
