This senior role is critical to ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and uptime of our state-of-the-art production equipment. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with extensive hands-on experience in a demanding manufacturing environment. You will not only be a technical expert but also a mentor to junior technicians. This position requires exceptional mechanical and electrical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and an unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence. Navy Nuclear operators, particularly those with Leading Petty Officer (LPO) or Work Center Supervisor (WCS) experience, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Advanced Maintenance & Troubleshooting : Lead the execution of complex preventive / corrective maintenance and employ a systematic, first-principles approach to perform root cause analysis on elusive mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- System Ownership & Improvement : Take full ownership of the operational readiness of assigned equipment, collaborating with engineering to refine maintenance procedures, recommend system upgrades, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentorship & Team Leadership : Mentor and develop junior technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety. Provide clear pass-downs, technical guidance, and set the standard for procedural compliance.
- Safety & Compliance : Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with established protocols. Proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Technical Documentation : Meticulously document all maintenance actions, system performance data, and component history, ensuring records are detailed and accurate for engineering review and team turnover.
Qualifications
Proven Technical Expertise : 5+ years of experience as a maintenance technician in a high-volume manufacturing, industrial, or semiconductor environment. Demonstrated mastery of either complex mechanical systems (pumps, vacuum, fluid systems) OR electrical systems (power distribution, control systems, PLCs).Leadership & Problem-Solving : Ability to lead under pressure, logically diagnose complex equipment failures, and take decisive action. Experience directing small teams or mentoring junior personnel is highly desirable.Technical Documentation Proficiency : Expertise in reading, interpreting, and working from complex schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals, with the ability to redline documentation for corrections and improvements.Exceptional Equivalency : Completion of the Naval Nuclear Power School and prototype training, combined with a successful sea tour, is considered an exceptional equivalent to formal education and industry experience.Bonus Skills : A technical degree or certification is a plus. Direct experience with lasers, high-vacuum systems, or high-pressure gas systems is a significant advantage.$42 - $52 an hour
