Developmental Editor
to help turn complex ideas into clear, compelling books. You’ll collaborate with authors to refine their thinking, elevate the craft of explanation, and uphold the standards our readers have come to expect.
What You’ll Do
Develop and manage multiple technical book projects from concept through publication
Work directly with authors to improve clarity, structure, and technical precision
Hire and manage technical reviewers and subject-matter experts
Guide manuscripts through editorial and production timelines
Collaborate with marketing and production teams to deliver books that inform and inspire
What You Bring
5+ years
of developmental or substantive editing experience in technical publishing
Deep understanding of programming concepts and computer science fundamentals
Proven success collaborating with technical authors and managing complex projects
Excellent editorial judgment, organization, and communication skills
Proficiency in Word or LibreOffice; familiarity with LaTeX or Overleaf a plus
Ability to work independently while maintaining clear, consistent communication
