Cost Controller Job Description
Responsibilities :
Build estimates for assigned work-list within TACT tools that incorporates all planned scope.
Able to work extended hours, including weekends, when turnarounds are in execution.
Work with scheduler and planners to validate work inventory and to obtain missing or incomplete data, etc.
Participate / Facilitate setting up initial Master Resource Plan and review Contract Strategy with TA team.
Sets up cost collection systems within the plant and with outside contractors and vendors.
Ensures that TA team members understand the cost tracking & accrual work processes.
Utilize and maintain all necessary tools to provide TA leadership accurate estimates and forecasts for all assigned accounts.
Tracks costs during the course of the turnaround (Pre, Execution & Post stages).
Analyze vendor reporting and cost estimates for variances from established plan.
Work with cost accountant to ensure that all forecasting and accruals are submitted in accordance with company policy.
Accrue all costs in accordance with the client's expense guidelines.
Provides data / reports to Turnaround Manager for required TA cost authorizations and cost updates.
Provide monthly / yearly forecasts to TA Manager.
Must be able to articulate and present cost data, cost trends, etc. to leaders in the business.
Analyzes cost data and identifies discrepancies; takes appropriate action to resolve.
Ensures accurate reflection of committed / spent funds, scope changes, and add-ons in all cost documents.
Drive final billing process by contacting vendors and requesting final billing.
Finalize & archive all cost information and provide final TA cost projections that will be included in TA Closure Report.
Work with the Gulf Coast Regional Turnaround Cost SME's to understand and drive consistent tools and work practices.
Skills :
The individual should have working TA, Shutdown, Outage, and / or Project based knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Must be strong in Excel and ability to manage large amounts of data.
Possess strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
Good written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong work ethic.
Strong Teamwork and Collaboration : Ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to follow established processes.

SAP experience is desirable.
2+ years' experience in an administrative role in TA, Shutdown, Outage, Maintenance and / or Projects OR 2+ year's previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or timekeeping.
