Job Title :  RPG / iSeries / AS400 Programmer

Location : Berkeley Heights, NJ / Omaha, NE / Lincoln, NE (Onsite 5 Days)

Duration : Contract To Hire (W2 Only)

What does a successful Application Support Engineer do?

As an Application Support Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of complex systems and their integration with essential applications. Your expertise will be key in delivering top-level support and driving effective troubleshooting efforts.

What you’ll do :

  • Provide technical expertise and coordinate complex troubleshooting across implementation teams, engineering, development, and operations.
  • Resolve deployment-related issues in both test and production environments.
  • Conduct risk assessments throughout the implementation lifecycle up to live production.
  • Collaborate with development and client services teams to analyze non-routine problems and implement solutions.
  • Consult on projects involving existing applications, process flows, and operating systems.
  • Install and upgrade software releases in test and production environments.
  • Review new designs, enhancements, and programs for efficiency with analysts and developers.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to gather data, assist with solution design, and ensure solutions exceed expectations.

What you’ll need to have :

  • 6+ years of experience with iSeries / AS400 systems.
  • 6+ years of RPG programming experience.
  • 3+ years working in complex banking operations or financial services environments.

    • What would be great to have :

  • Experience with DB2 / SQL database structures.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in financial data processing.
  • Strong understanding of software and hardware interactions.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability.
  • Effective communication skills across written, verbal, and non-verbal formats.

    • Other requirements :

  • Ability to work on-call in a rotational schedule.
  • Flexibility to work weekends when needed.
