The nurse will work night shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00. Every third weekend is required. The nurse will be part of a community-based Emergency Department serving all patient types. Pediatrics and psychiatric patients are treated in the Emergency Department but not admitted. The facility has Level 3 Trauma designation and is a Primary Stroke Center. Daily census is approximately 120 patients, with a variety of age groups from neonates to geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support includes Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary. The unit is equipped with all necessary equipment typical for an Emergency Department setting. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 5 patients per nurse during nights and weekends. Candidates with previous charge experience are preferred. The environment requires diverse skill sets, including the management of acute conditions like trauma, cardiac emergencies, and mental health crises. This role involves collaboration with various medical specialists, including neurosurgeons and cardiac surgeons. Familiarity with managing ventilated patients and starting IVs is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced emergency setting and be capable of handling a range of critical situations.
