About the Department:

Scalia Law is ranked #31 among all law schools, #2 among law schools in the D.C. area, and #2 among law schools in Virginia. This achievement follows two remarkable fundraising successes: gifts totaling $30 million, which named the law school in honor of the late Justice Antonin Scalia, and a bequest of more than $50 million from the late Judge Allison M. Rouse and Mrs. Dorothy B. Rouse.

About the Position:

George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School invites applications from faculty who are tenured at other universities for lateral faculty positions to begin August 2026. Tenured positions will need to follow normal tenured faculty hiring processes at the Law School and the University.

We seek applications from the very best candidates in all fields of law who will excel as scholars and teachers and who will participate with vigor in our intellectual and scholarly community. Examples include, but are not limited to, publications, including journal articles, books, and book chapters, etc.; sponsored research activity and grant and contract awards; conferences and other scholarly presentations; and other activities that enhance the Law School and the University's scholarly recognition and reputation.

Service:

  • Engages in service to the Law School and university community, including participating in the governance of the Law School, curricular development, and other institutional responsibilities as required by the ABA law school accreditation standards; provides service to the profession, including working with judges and practicing lawyers to improve the profession; and provides service to the public, including participation in pro bono activities. Examples include, but are not limited to, activity such as attendance at faculty meetings and faculty workshops; participation in faculty personnel matters; curricular development; support for co-curricular student experiences; mentoring colleagues; chairing and co-chairing committees; leading or actively participating in university-wide initiatives; leading invited or peer-reviewed workshops; leadership in related professional organizations, etc.
