5 years+ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant in busy Medical Internist office

Clinical Duties

  • Take medical histories
  • Preparing patients for examinations
  • Assisting the physician during examinations
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing basic laboratory tests
  • Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT)
  • Phlebotomy
  • Complete Quality Measures falls risk and depression assessments
  • Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations / immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
  • Transmitting prescription refills, and prior authorization as needed
  • Taking electrocardiograms (EKG)
  • Wound care and changing dressings

Clean and sanitize medical tolls and equipment

  • understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • develops and promotes a constructive / positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team member

  • Using computer applications (Athena Electronic Health records)
  • Answering telephones
  • Updating medical records
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Clean and sanitize rooms and office (CDC guidelines)
