Offsite Medical Assistant I

The Offsite Medical Assistant I provides clinical office support to Physicians & Surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include :

• Checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam / procedure room, assisting patients as needed; preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions; answers calls.
• Sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab / x-ray reports; completing forms and requisitions; managing charts.
• Entering orders into the electronic medical record system or preparing prescription refill requests.
• Inventory, order, or restock medical supplies.
• Setting up examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques.
• Maintaining logging systems for refrigeration of medications, sterilization process, etc.
• Checking expiration dates on medications and disposing appropriately.
• Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
• Complying with personal protective equipment requirements.
• Assisting in the maintenance of medical charts.
• Scheduling surgeries / procedures; preparing charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms.
• Performing proficient phlebotomy duties.
• Performing appointment scheduling and registration; updating patient demographic and insurance information.
• Maintaining, adjusting, and confirming patient office schedule.
• Checking and verifying and updating insurance information.
• Performing and verifying pre-certification for procedures.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
