L3Harris' Space and Airborne Systems seeks a Chief Engineer with expertise in space domain awareness for DoD and IC missions. The person in this position will be deployed as a Chief Engineer for a large contract within L3Harris, responsible for the technical baseline and technical execution of ongoing customer funded efforts for our ground-based radar, optical, and C2 product lines. This includes all phases of development from pre-award concept and initial architecture, through design, testing and verification, and on to production, deployment and operational acceptance. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for directing the execution activities of all functional disciplines for existing programs and new modernization projects.

Essential Functions :

• Application of knowledge of DoD and IC missions to support operations, maintenance, and sustainment of ground-based radars, optical sensors and C2 solutions.
• Leadership of systems / software engineering for sensing and decision support capabilities for legacy and emerging threats.
• Significant technical knowledge and experience designing and manufacturing both ground-based radar and optical systems to include hardware and software solutions
• Drive innovation and mission engineering for Space Domain Awareness (SDA) projects to include strategic discriminators along with product line modernization
• Identifies IR&D efforts in alignment with technical roadmaps to create technology differentiators
• Leadership of pursuits with emphasis on technical baseline rigor, cost justification, executability, reuse efficiency, and risk management.
• Provide mentorship to develop lower-level engineering staff into future SMEs
• Establishes program risks / opportunities
• Responsible for technical issue resolution, ensures root cause is identified, and corrective actions are executed

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State is  $157,000 - $291,000 . This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
