Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology department team. Position Overview :

Technicians perform a variety of animal-health duties to ensure exceptional patient care. Technicians should be proficient in intermediate nursing duties including but not limited to patient assessment and monitoring, phlebotomy, IVC placement, medication / fluid administration, medical calculations, anesthesia monitoring, etc. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of neurology and the ability remain calm during stressful situations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

• Deliver exceptional, compassionate nursing care to patients utilizing a variety of technical skills including, diagnostic sample collection, intravenous catheter placement, etc.
• Assist the doctors with consultation and recheck appointments
• Work under the guidance of the physicians to relay information to clients
• Schedule new patient consultations, recheck examinations, procedures, and technician outpatient appointments for the specialty departments
• Coordinate daily scheduled appointments, procedures, emergency transfers cases, as well as inpatient consultations for canine and feline patients
• Keep current in veterinary medicine trends through CE attendance

OSVS is a 35,000-sf building with a very busy emergency service, a nationally respected internship and residency program, and specialists in Emergency / Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Avian / Exotics. Specialized equipment includes telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and MRI.   Located in Southern New England, OSVS sees and treats pets from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
