What’s The Job?

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading, training, and coordinating sanitation teams across multiple buildings and production shifts to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role oversees daily cleaning and sanitation operations, verifies compliance with SQF, FDA, USDA, and OSHA requirements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to maintain a safe, sanitary, and high-performing production environment.

What You’ll Be Doing, Stop Scanning and Read This Part

Supervise and coordinate sanitation activities for both AM and PM shifts across multiple buildings.

Assign and monitor sanitation crew tasks to ensure completion of all master sanitation schedule (MSS) requirements.

Ensure compliance with company food safety programs, including SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and allergen control protocols.

Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections, ensuring proper cleaning, sanitation, and chemical use.

Train and coach sanitation employees on safe work practices, chemical handling, lockout / tagout, and proper sanitation procedures.

Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance teams to resolve sanitation-related issues and support production readiness.

Maintain accurate sanitation records, logs, and documentation for internal and external audits.

Manage sanitation supply inventory, chemical usage, and cost control measures.

Support cross-building sanitation consistency by developing and standardizing procedures.

Enforce company safety policies, investigate incidents, and promote a culture of safety and accountability.

Provide performance feedback, corrective action, and scheduling of sanitation staff.

Participate in audits, customer visits, and regulatory inspections as the sanitation subject matter expert.

This role is responsible for collaboration with other departments to identify and address food safety risks throughout the production process with other food safety team members.

This role is responsible for product quality & food safety and for maintaining hygiene conditions in the plant.

Ensures and promotes food safety throughout the facility.

Ensure compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Other duties as assigned.

What You’ve Done And Who You Are

Minimum 2–3 years of sanitation or food manufacturing leadership experience (multi-shift or multi-building experience strongly preferred).

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.

Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, SQF, GMPs, and food safety regulatory requirements.

Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams across multiple shifts.

Experience with sanitation chemicals, CIP systems, and safe chemical handling practices.

Someone that can partner and influence at all different levels.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

A relentless drive to get things done.

Flexible, willing, and quick to learn new processes, new technology, and new ways of thinking.

Physical Demands

Must be able to work near food ingredients, exposure to food allergens.

Must be able to lift up to 15–25 pounds at times.

Location : inside an air-conditioned manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Prolonged periods standing and walking during sanitation processes.

You must be able to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
