Qualifications:

• Education: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification: Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the NBSTSA or equivalent.
• Licensure: State licensure or certification as required by the state of practice.
• Experience: Previous experience as a Surgical Technician is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in surgical instrument handling, sterilization procedures, and operating room setup. Familiarity with various surgical specialties is a plus.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and surgical protocols.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to ethical and confidentiality standards.
• Physical Requirements: Capable of standing for extended periods, lifting and positioning patients, and assisting with physically demanding tasks in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preoperative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. Ensure all necessary items are available and in proper working condition.
• Assist Surgeons: Hand surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and other members of the surgical team during procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Patient Care: Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, including draping and sterilization procedures. Maintain patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
• Instrument Sterilization: Properly clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
• Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control procedures to minimize the risk of surgical site infections and maintain a sterile environment.
• Documentation: Accurately document all relevant information, including instrument counts, patient records, and surgical procedures.
• Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations by assisting the surgical team and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with surgical team members, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists, to coordinate patient care and surgical procedures.
• Safety: Follow safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for both patients and healthcare providers.
