As an Equipment Operator II in Drainage Maintenance you will operate one or more types of specialized, complex heavy-duty motorized and automotive equipment in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's public works infrastructure. You will be expected to repair and replace storm water pipes, clean out half pipe, haul construction material, maintain right of ways, and conduct heavy ditch maintenance and repair.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in equipment operation or closely related experience.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
- Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or a valid driver's license and obtain a State of Virginia CDL Class B within 180 days of employment.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
