The Role Lumen Finance is seeking a Senior Director of Consumption Economics to architect and lead the company's consumption economics strategy and financial modeling for Lumen Digital. This executive will own the enterprise-wide frameworks that translate product roadmap, consumption patterns, and pricing strategies into measurable financial outcomesrevenue, margins, and full P&L forecasts. This leader will :
Drive strategic alignment between consumption insights and corporate growth objectives
Embed dynamic, data-driven models into decision-making processes across Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Corporate Finance
Influence senior leadership and external stakeholders with actionable insights that guide Lumen's transition to a scalable, consumption-based business model
The Main Responsibilities
Strategic Modeling & Forecasting
Design and maintain enterprise-grade consumption models that link usage metrics (e.g., bandwidth, API calls) to revenue, margin, and profitability projections
Develop driver-based financial models with scenario and sensitivity analysis to stress-test strategic options
Forecast consumption demand trends and translate insights into actionable strategies
Margin Optimization & Investment Economics
Quantify and track cost of acquisition and lifecycle economics across usage-based product lines
Build investment cases linking incremental growth spend to consumption, margin, and payback
Decompose operating margin drivers to inform Capex prioritization and resource allocation
Metrics, Reporting & Benchmarking
Establish consumption economics KPIs for internal and external reporting
Benchmark against industry trends in SaaS, cloud, and infrastructure-as-a-service models
Enterprise Influence & Leadership
Drive adoption of consumption models in executive planning cadences and business reviews
Serve as the financial thought leader for consumption economics across the organization
Partner with cross-functional leaders to align consumption insights with corporate forecasts and strategic targets
What We Look For in a Candidate
Education : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Business; MBA strongly preferred
Experience :
10+ years in financial planning, pricing strategy, or consumption economics modeling in SaaS, cloud, or digital services
Proven track record in enterprise-level P&L management, scenario forecasting, and usage-based financial modeling
Skills :
Advanced proficiency in modeling tools (Excel, Python, R) and data analytics
Exceptional financial acumenforecasting, variance analysis, and strategic planning
Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior leadership
Excellent communication skillsable to distill complex models into clear narratives
Collaborative mindset with experience leading cross-functional initiatives
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges $180,020 - $240,026 in these states : CO
