Position Information

This recruitment it to fill 1-5 vacancies for Sworn Police Officer for the Chico Police Department. Vacancies based on Council budget approvals.

Candidates must have previously graduated from an accredited police academy to become sworn entry-level police officers.

This recruitment will include completing a rigorous physical agility course and the P.O.S.T. Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB).

Candidates who hold a current (dated within the last year) T-score of 42, or higher, are encouraged to submit their T-score information along with their application. Valid and current T-scores will exempt candidates from the written examination.

Candidates who have successfully completed the City of Chico physical agility or a standardized WSTB course within the last six months may be exempted from the required agility course. Please contact Human Resources for more information on exemptions, if needed.

Job Description

Licenses and Certifications :

Possession of a valid California Driver License.

High school graduation or equivalent, supplemented by a valid Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Academy certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. Environmental Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
