Logistics Management Specialist

Serves as the Logistics Management Specialist with responsibility for direction and control of medical logistics planning that includes multiple functional areas of Supply Chain Management (SCM), and may include geographically separated areas where no supply chain management personnel are assigned by developing and implementing policy, programs, and procedures for the accurate management planning and provides administrative and technical oversight and training to lower-graded specialist.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Ensures that all assigned personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises.
• Develops assigned Supply Chain metrics which identify business objectives and drives the right supply chain behaviors for planning and executing approved strategies.
• Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel / activities.
• Trains, plans and controls the movement of personnel and equipment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises.
• Recommends alternate courses of action in resolving problems critical to current and future logistics requirements.
• Providing supply chain expertise to improve supply availability with a focus on getting the right material, at the right time and right place to support the health care system.
• Establishes procedures for the integrator and / or facilitator for contact with supply chain management customers.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission.
• Analyzes the effectiveness of the supply chain and supported services, and supports long range supply chain requirements and interactions.
• Initiates and tracks forecasting actions for assigned items for future placements.
• Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply, and alerts management of system problems.
• Communicate with customers and personnel on the role the supply chain plays in maintaining comprehensive supply chain support, operational readiness and sustainability.

Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Physical Requirements : Work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

Additional Information : Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave : Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.
