Controls Engineer
Location : Bristol, WI
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Controls Engineer to join our automation team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving automated systems that integrate mechanical, electrical, and control technologies. We're looking for an innovative problem-solver with strong technical skills and the ability to deliver reliable automation solutions in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automation and process control.
- Develop and integrate mechatronic systems that combine mechanical components, electronics, sensors, and software.
- Configure and optimize motion control systems, including servos, VFDs, and robotic equipment.
- Create and maintain technical documentation such as wiring diagrams, schematics, control logic, and manuals.
- Perform root-cause analysis and lead continuous improvement efforts for automation and production equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver complete automation solutions.
- Ensure all control systems comply with safety standards and industry regulations (NFPA 70E, OSHA, ISO, etc.).
- Support system commissioning, testing, debugging, and ongoing maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or a related field (preferred).5+ years of hands-on experience in automation, controls, or mechatronics engineering.Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).Experience with industrial robotics, motion control systems, and machine vision technologies.Strong understanding of electrical circuits, instrumentation, pneumatics, and hydraulics.Experience using CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and simulation software (MATLAB / Simulink preferred).Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication abilities and experience coordinating engineering projects.Preferred Experience
