Senior Buyer
Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000
Location: Torrance, CA
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to oversee day-to-day purchasing activities within our Manufacturing Department. This role is responsible for managing the procurement and logistics of materials that support all stages of product development and production. The Senior Buyer will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered on time to meet production schedules. This position plays a critical role in maintaining supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in an EMS manufacturing environment within the medical or aerospace industry, with purchasing experience related to electrical components, PCBA boards, and cable assemblies. Experience supporting turnkey manufacturing programs is a strong plus. This role is well suited for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the RFQ and purchase order process from supplier selection through order fulfillment
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers while negotiating pricing, lead times, and contract terms
Participate in the S&OP process, supporting demand planning and material planning for assigned product lines and vendors
Monitor inventory levels and material forecasts to maintain appropriate safety stock and prevent production shortages
Balance material demand and supply by analyzing inventory, forecasting needs, and coordinating supplier shipments
Create and manage purchase orders within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring accurate tracking of open orders, delivery dates, and inbound shipments
Track shipments and expedite deliveries when necessary to meet production schedules
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, addressing quality, service, and delivery performance issues as needed
Communicate material requirements, quality standards, and delivery expectations to suppliers within an MRP-driven environment
Source materials and services to achieve the best value in price, quality, and delivery
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant purchasing experience
OR
Associate’s degree with 10+ years of relevant purchasing experience
Preferred:
Certifications from industry organizations such as C.P.M. or CPSM
Experience
Experience in EMS, high-tech, aerospace, or medical device manufacturing environments
Purchasing experience with electrical components, PCBA boards, and cable assemblies
Experience supporting turnkey manufacturing programs is highly desirable
Hands-on experience using MRP/ERP systems such as SAGE or similar platforms
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets
