Shipping Clerk Opportunity
Join our Shipping & Receiving Team! Our Shipping Clerk opportunity is a day shift position that requires some weekend work on Saturdays. This position verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and incoming shipments, prepares items for shipment, by performing the following duties :
Perform all duties in a safe manner and promotes "Safety First" mentality across the team.
Compares identifying information and counts, weights or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Creates custom pallets or crates using raw wood, a saw, and a nail gun as needed.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
Inserts items into containers.
Nails or staples covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal banding.
Stamps, stencils or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Post weights and shipping charges and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck forklift or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Utilizes the ERP system and vendor online portal(s) to record, monitor, and track shipments and parts.
A successful candidate for this role will have :
Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight documentation, and carrier requirements.
Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory control practices, and manufacturing workflow.
Ability to accurately prepare, verify, and process shipping labels, bills of lading, and packing lists.
Skill in using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and standard shipping platforms.
Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks.
Strong attention to detail to ensure correct order selection, packaging, and documentation accuracy.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with production, warehouse teams, and external carriers.
Ability to perform basic math for counting, measuring, and verifying shipment quantities.
Time-management and organizational skills to prioritize multiple outgoing shipments in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to follow safety protocols, maintain clean work areas, and comply with company and regulatory shipping standards.
Required / Preferred Education :
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one year of previous related shipping / warehouse experience or three to five years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
