Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist)
Job Summary
HR Generalist : Ascendant New York is a free-standing detox, rehab, and outpatient facility located in Midtown Manhattan. Ascendant New York is licensed by the State of New Yorks Office of Addiction Services and Supports and is looking for a full-time Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist will be the primary human resources personnel for a team of employees and contractors. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail and must love working with people.
Must have a Bachelors Degree and at least 1 year of experience in human resources. Experience in behavioral health is preferred. This is a full-time Monday through Friday position and is in-person. Salary range is $75k-$85k. Benefits include 2 weeks vacation PTO, 1 week sick PTO, health insurance (medical / dental / vision), and pre-tax commuter benefits.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities include :
Recruitment and hiring :
Collaborate with managers on hiring needs,
Post job openings and screen applications,
Participate in interviews and reference checks as needed,
Send offer letters / contracts and process new hire paperwork in the BambooHR platform,
Complete all necessary background checks and ensure required lab tests (urine drug screen and Quantiferon testing) are completed by new hires,
Complete in-person onboarding appointments for I9 verification and new hire orientation,
Maintain a system to ensure staff has completed new hire and annual required trainings,
Complete credentialing verification for all licensed and certified team members.
Employee relations :
Act as a point of contact for HR-related questions and concerns from team members (i.e. employees and contractors),
Assist with conflict resolution and grievance processes,
Engage with current team members at various touch points in the life cycle of an employee to be proactive with their needs and for retention,
Utilize BambooHR employee surveys for data collection on employee satisfaction / well-being and assess for company changes needed based on feedback,
Support managers in performance management including development of job
descriptions, competency assessments, performance evaluations, and disciplinary procedures.

Assist with payroll and compensation-related tasks,
Compliance and administration :
Ensure all HR functions comply with federal, state, and local regulations,
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records,
Complete off-boarding procedures for all team members,
Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures,
Oversee credentialing and ensuring all team members credentials / licenses are valid and verified,
Update forms as needed in the BambooHR system,
Prepare HR reports for various company needs (e.g. quarterly Quality Improvement meetings, LegitScripts, state / regulatory audits, etc),
Ensure supplies are stocked for the departments needs,
Participate in development and setup of employee events (e.g. holiday party, employee birthday celebrations, etc).
Qualifications and Skills
