The Department of Art & Design at SCSU invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Coordinator of Art Education beginning Fall 2026, within the most comprehensive Art & Design department in the Connecticut State University (CSU) System, and the only CSU program housed at an R2 institution.
Brief Description of Duties / Responsibilities
The Department of Art & Design seeks to hire a full-time tenure-track faculty member to oversee the BS undergraduate and MAT graduate program in Art Education. The Coordinator of Art Education will lead all the Department’s efforts in the area of Art Education and coordinate the teacher-certification programs. The successful candidate will teach courses in Art Education; advise students; coordinate student teaching and other field work; supervise adjunct faculty; lead the program admissions processes and participate in department and university committees; liaise with university offices; and promote the program.
The successful candidate must be committed to teaching within a vibrant public liberal arts and sciences environment and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and research with undergraduate and graduate students. All faculty at SCSU share in academic advising and participate in department / university service. Teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester. The Coordinator of Art Education position carries 3 credits for coordinator duties and 9 credits of teaching per semester.
Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity / research in their area of expertise. These activities include but are not limited to research leading to publication of books and / or articles in academic and professional journals, performances in the fine and performing arts, efforts to seek funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributions to workshops and conferences.
