Unit Notes

- # Beds : 29 Beds, semi private, acute behavioral health unit located inside the hospital
- Nurse / Patient Ratios : Days 1 : 6, Nights 1 : 6-8
- Required certifications : BLS required, client will provide Crisis training unique to facility (SECURE)
- Job Duties : Nursing groups, assessment, crisis de-escalation, medical needs, med passes. RN is expected to be out on the unit actively participating in treatment on the unit (not just the tech) and not hanging out in the nurses station.
- Common Diagnoses : 18+ Adult Unit, not a Geriatric Unit (Don't take Primary Dementia diagnoses), will take Dual Diagnosis, Avg LOS 24Hrs-8 Days
- Experience Requirements : Must have 1 year of Psych or Behavioral Health experience. Candidates can have experience with Peds, Adults, or Geri. Need individuals willing to jump in.
- Experience Preferences : Prefer prior charge experience in order for travelers to step into a charge role.
- First Time Travelers : Open to first time travelers.
- Equipment : No medical equipment (Ivs, walkers, wheelchairs, etc) accepted on unit.
- Phlebotomy : Phlebotomists are available, RNs may be asked to do draws
- Charge Nurse : Manager available during the day as a resource, Supervisors available during nights
- Physical Restraints : Soft, hard, & seclusion (restraint chair vs bed) therapy available
- Team : Security, Tech, SW, Leadership, Admin
- Shifts & Scheduling : 7-7 : 30, Leadership will work with travelers on flexibility, Modified Self-Scheduling, Travelers are asked to be flexible and help fill gaps with permanent scheduling, willing to consider block schedules
- Weekend Requirements : Ideally every other to every third, possibly a higher weekend requirement upon opening (Unit opening Jan 2026)
- Holiday Requirements : May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation
- Call / Standby Requirements : Rare
- Floating Requirements : Rare - Psych sitter on another unit
- Scrub Color / Dress Code : Navy Blue scrubs
- Unit / Department-Specific Orientation : 1 Day of General Orientation, approximately 3 shifts of department orientation expected
- Additional Notes : This is a new Behavioral Health Unit opening in Jan 2026. Travelers will be asked to assist in establishing the unit, should expect some need for flexibility.
