Senior Designer - Transportation

Overview

This position is responsible for providing design support to engineers with Transportation projects as well as mentor other technicians and designers.

Responsibilities

• Work from detailed sketches or off red-lines to prepare plans, profiles, and detail drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D/MicroStation
• Understand and use established company standards for drafting including layer names; line and character styles; drawings and file names for sheet layout
• Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision
• Inform Project Manager(s) of progress on assigned projects and request work when needed
• Assist in the development of other Technicians and Designers, as directed and needed
• Maintain organized work area to allow access of project information by other team members
• Flexible in work assignments and team assignments

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education
• 10 years' experience in civil design with a focus in Transportation
• Extremely proficient in AutoCAD- Civil 3D/MicroStation
• Effective communications skills both oral and written skills
• Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues, clients and public agency officials
• Self-starter
• Ability to work interdependently within a team environment
• Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
• Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime
