Job Title: Tadpole Childcare Aide Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Primary Purpose:
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 48 college hours preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Exhibit the physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for the position, including but not limited to the ability to routinely lift 25 pounds, the ability to work in a noisy environment, and the ability to read, speak and write in the English language
Experience:
Prior experience in childcare, preschool, or Head Start setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement the duties in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of LWISD and Tadpole Learning Center and remain in compliance at all times with the laws of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Care Licensing Division.
- Respond appropriately to the individual needs of children in regard to relationships, environment, activities, safety, health, nutrition, and guidance; treating all children with dignity and respect.
- Supervise children at all time, being aware of and responsible for all ongoing activities of each child by being physically present and responsive to children's needs.
- Interact positively with children, parents, other staff and volunteers, showing interest and respect.
- Be prepared daily, in advance for curriculum implementation and classroom responsibilities.
- Maintain orderly arrangement, attractive appearance, stimulating learning environment and safe and happy classroom spaces, notifying the Director of any needed repairs immediately.
- Present a physical appearance that indicates personal pride and professionalism and maintain modesty in your dress.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings and be responsible for obtaining the required continuing education each year.
- Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director.
- Take responsibility for informing the Director if you are unable to meet the physical or emotional demands of the position at any time.
