The Outpatient Oncology NP will join an established oncology service within a reputable health system known for quality, safety, and patient experience. This accredited cancer program features multidisciplinary tumor boards, integrated navigation, on-site infusion, and a modern electronic health record to streamline care.
The Outpatient Oncology NP reports to a supervising medical oncologist / practice medical director and partners closely with hematology / oncology physicians. The NP collaborates daily with infusion nurses, clinical pharmacists, nurse navigators, social workers, and scheduling / authorization teams to ensure seamless care. While this role does not have direct reports, this role serves as a clinical resource and preceptor to RNs and APP colleagues, working closely with inpatient teams when coordination is needed.
The Outpatient Oncology NP will practice in a busy ambulatory clinic with an on-site infusion center supported by experienced nurses, techs, and pharmacists. This role operates Monday-Friday on four 10-hour shifts with a rotating weekend call component .
The Outpatient Oncology NP will triage complex calls, perform comprehensive evaluations, manage oncologic emergencies and treatment-related toxicities, educate patients and families on chemotherapy, and serve as a first responder for infusion reactions. Additionally, the position will contribute to protocol development, documentation excellence, quality initiatives, and interdisciplinary committees, while assisting with chemotherapy supervision and inpatient rounding as needed.
