Job Description : Tax Manager

Client : Lipschultz, Levin & Gray (LLG)

Location : Northbrook, IL

Employment Type : Full-time, Onsite (5 days per week)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing team in Northbrook, IL. This is a leadership role that requires a strong background in tax preparation, review, and compliance, as well as the ability to mentor and manage junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a CPA license, in-depth knowledge of tax laws, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Tax Preparation & Review : Prepare and review federal and multi-state tax returns for businesses, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and non-profits.
  • Tax Planning : Develop and review annual tax provisions and planning calculations for estimates and extensions.
  • Research & Compliance : Research complex tax matters, monitor legislative changes, and propose resolutions to tax-related challenges.
  • Client Interaction : Build and sustain strong client relationships, respond to inquiries, and handle communications with tax authorities.
  • Team Management : Supervise, mentor, and train interns, part-time staff, and junior associates.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other accounting and tax-related responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience : Minimum 6 years of experience in public accounting, with a stable work history.
  • Tax Expertise : Strong knowledge of tax laws, including recent updates and changes.
  • Technical Skills :

    • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online).

  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with CCH ProSystem FX or Axcess Tax, and Caseware.
  • Soft Skills :

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues with sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

    • Preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Experience working with mid-sized companies (LLC, S-Corp) and high-net-worth individuals / trusts.
