Department : Human Resources

Work Location : El Paso, TX, Plano, TX, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule : At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Any updates to this model will be communicated in advance. Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations.

What you will be doing :

As a Benefits Specialist, you'll serve as an individual contributor reporting to the Senior Director of Global Benefits & Well-being. In this role, you'll be responsible for administering benefit plans and programs while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. You'll also provide associates with exceptional benefits support aligned with our Benefits and Center of Excellence philosophy. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and values accuracy and confidentiality.

Administrative Tasks :

  • Administer the day-to-day benefit programs.
  • Work with third-party administrators to investigate and resolve associate issues and disputes related to benefits or claims.
  • Partner with payroll to ensure accurate deductions and address discrepancies.
  • Manage the annual open enrollment period, including coordinating with Workday consultants on updates, associate communications, and carrier collaboration.
  • Manage Workday benefits configuration by partnering with the third-party vendor.
  • Monitor and resolve escalated integration file feed issues and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with coordinating Workday benefit related releases.
  • Serve as the primary point of coverage for all Benefits Assistant responsibilities.

Benefits Compliance :

  • Remain current with government regulations to maintain benefit plan compliance.
  • Work with carriers on required annual 401(k) and Flexible Spending Account non-discrimination reporting and testing and corrective action.
  • Working with internal / external auditors on annual 401(k) Plan compliance testing.
  • Administer all regulatory federal and state benefit reporting and annual notices.
  • Review and audit ACA data reporting and work with third-party vendors on federal and state filing and reporting.
  • Process Management :

  • Manage the ADA accommodation process from beginning to end, partnering with the Director of Global Benefits & Well-being.
  • Skills needed to be successful in this role :

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written / verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex processes clearly.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Skilled at handling multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience with benefits administration and compliance.
  • Working experience of Group Self-Funded plans, Health and Welfare, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting associate benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, SECTION 125, Medicare, and Social Security.
  • Proven experience in MS Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • General working knowledge of HRIS, Benefits Enrollment, and other web-based systems.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
