Plant Utilities Engineer 1

New York State Psychiatric Institute is recruiting for a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 for their physical plant operations. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

As a Plant Utilities Engineer 1, you will be responsible for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks including :

• Operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and mechanical equipment inside and outside the physical plant equipment
• Cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining boilers
• Responding to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing calls and troubleshooting necessary repairs
• Conducting boiler, HVAC, and water systems testing, analyzing results, and adjusting chemicals as needed

Candidates from outside or within State service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program as a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 if they have one of the qualifications listed :

OR Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b / 55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
