Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Safety Manager to lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide safety initiatives that drive a proactive culture of risk management, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
This role requires exceptional leadership, executive-level communication skills, and strong analytical capabilities. The Safety Manager will oversee a team of field safety professionals, manage incident reporting and claims processes, and collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Risk, HR, and Executive Leadership to achieve best-in-class safety performance.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of field safety professionals; establish clear expectations and drive accountability.
Foster a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Enforce safety protocols with consistency and fairness while modeling best practices.
Demonstrate resilience, patience, and adaptability in dynamic field environments.
Data, Analytics & Executive Reporting
Design, manage, and analyze safety dashboards, KPIs, and trend reports.
Translate data into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Deliver clear, confident presentations outlining risks, performance, and solutions.
Conduct Root Cause Analyses for incidents and near misses; lead corrective action planning.
Incident & Claims Management
Oversee the end-to-end incident reporting and claims process (triage, investigation, documentation, closure).
Partner with Risk and HR on injury case management, workers' compensation strategies, and return-to-work programs.
Field Engagement & Compliance
Maintain a strong field presence through inspections, audits, and observations.
Ensure compliance with CAL / OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Collaborate with operations teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Support and enhance Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs and IIPP subprograms.
Employee Engagement & Training
Facilitate safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and incentive programs.
Promote employee ownership of safety practices through active engagement and open communication.
Address resistance constructively using emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Bilingual : Spanish required
Education : Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred
Experience : 7+ years of leadership experience managing safety teams in construction or field operations environments
Certifications : OSHA 10 / 30 / 500, CSM, CSP, or equivalent strongly preferred
Regulatory Expertise : Strong knowledge of CAL / OSHA and applicable regulations
Technical Skills : Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; proven ability to build dashboards and analyze safety data
Communication : Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
