The Retail Pharmacist prepares and dispenses prescriptions as ordered by qualified prescriber. Reviews prescriptions for appropriate indication, dose, regimen, route, potential interactions or allergies. Adheres to state and federal regulations governing retail pharmacy. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Requirements:
- Current licensure from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
- Experience in retail pharmacy
- Current immunization certification and demonstrated ability to administer vaccines
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification or ability to obtain
Responsibilities:
- Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated.
- Prepares and dispenses prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintains patient profile to include information on allergies, disease history, and other information as appropriate.
- Performs medication counseling for patients as requested. Ensures compliance with stated and federal regulations on retail pharmacy.
- Supervises activities and checks work of pharmacy technicians.
- Oversees daily accounting and financial records for purchasing and dispensing.
- Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.
