JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Operator (Ferrous).

REPORTS TO: Ferrous Operations Manager.

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt.

LOCATION: 6225 Thompson Rd., Syracuse, NY 13206

HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

OVERTIME: Saturday's from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM per request/as needed.

COMPENSATION: $19.00 to $21.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

The following duties are typical for this position; the following requirements are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safe Handling and/or moving material.
• Knowledge of material requirements; material shipping specifications; size threshold; weight thresholds.
• Effective communication with all site personnel.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
• Daily maintenance of equipment.
• Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.
• Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit for long periods.
• Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.
• Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices, and typical sounds.
• Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School degree or equivalent preferred.
• Able to operate excavators, loaders, etc.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
• Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals a plus.
• Quick learner who can follow directions.
• Good communication skills.
• Team player.
• Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
• Must have reliable transportation to work.
