Our client, a nationwide leader and manufacturer of commercial chemical products, has an immediate need for an experienced Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant, to join our winning team in Carlstadt. Our candidate of choice will handle day-to-day accounting functions and help keep our financial operations running smoothly. The role covers a mix of cash reconciliations, AR / AP, inventory accounting, and general reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment typical of a growing industrial business. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations across multiple bank accounts. Track cash balances and work with management to ensure proper cash flow coverage. Identify and resolve any reconciling items quickly and accurately. Process AR and AP cash applications and reconciliations. Review and voucher vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding. Maintain vendor records and assist with payment runs. Support AR collections and apply customer payments as received. Record and reconcile inventory transfers, clearing accounts, and adjustments. Coordinate with operations and warehouse teams to ensure inventory activity is properly reflected in the system. Prepare and distribute the Daily Sales Report to senior management. Assist in monthly close activities and provide account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Communicate effectively with the Controller and other team members to resolve issues and share updates. Work directly with external auditors to provide schedules and documentation during audits or reviews. Assist the Controller with ad hoc projects, system cleanups, and process improvements. KEY REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience. Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment is a plus. Solid understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliations. Proficient in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar). Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Able to work independently while communicating effectively within a small team. Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a busy environment.
