A housekeeping job involves cleaning and maintaining spaces like homes, hotels, or offices by performing tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing bathrooms / kitchens, changing linens, and restocking supplies, while also ensuring safety standards, reporting maintenance issues, and sometimes handling laundry or running errands to create a clean, comfortable, and organized environment for residents or guests.
Key Responsibilities
- General Cleaning : Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting furniture, cleaning windows, and polishing surfaces.
- Sanitation : Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms (toilets, showers, sinks) and kitchens (counters, appliances).
- Bedding & Linens : Making beds, changing bed linens, and ensuring fresh towels are available.
- Supply Management : Restocking toiletries, cleaning products, and other consumables; organizing carts.
- Waste Removal : Emptying trash cans and disposing of garbage and recycling.
- Maintenance Reporting : Identifying and reporting any needed repairs or maintenance issues to management.
- Laundry : Washing, ironing, and folding clothes or linens (in some roles).
- Errands / Other : Running errands like grocery shopping or pet care (especially in private homes).
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Previous cleaning experience (often preferred).Strong attention to detail.Ability to work independently and efficiently.Physical stamina for bending, lifting (e.g., 25-35 lbs), and being on your feet.Good communication and ability to follow instructions.Knowledge of cleaning supplies and safety / sanitation policies.Work Environments
