PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT (Hospitality)
Overview :
The Property Accountant is responsible for all day-to-day and month-end accounting functions for a hospitality property or portfolio. This role supports hotel operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely analysis, and compliance with brand and ownership requirements. The ideal candidate has hospitality experience (hotel, resort, or multi-property environment) and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting.
Key Responsibilities :
Daily & Weekly Accounting
Manage daily cash reconciliation, credit card balancing, and bank deposits.
Review and post daily revenue reports from the PMS / POS systems (Opera, M3, NetSuite, etc.).
Process A / P including vendor invoice coding, approvals, and weekly check runs.
Maintain A / R including billing, payment application, and collections for group events, wholesale, and corporate accounts.
Reconcile house bank activity, petty cash, and cash over / short.
Month-End Close
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, and revenue adjustments.
Perform account reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, prepaid, fixed assets, intercompany).
Compile monthly financial statements and variance analysis for ownership and management.
Review P&L for accuracy and ensure expenses are coded to the correct departments and cost centers.
Support budget vs. actual reviews with regional or property leadership.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
Partner with the GM, Director of Finance, and department heads to review financial results.
Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and KPI reporting (ADR, RevPAR, occupancy).
Ensure compliance with hotel brand standards, GAAP, and internal controls.
Support external audits, tax filings, and year-end schedules.
Maintain vendor relationships and resolve billing discrepancies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
2-5+ years of experience in hospitality accounting (hotel, resort, or multi-property).
Understanding of hotel revenue streams and department-level P&Ls.
Experience with hospitality systems such as M3, ProfitSword, Opera, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite is a plus.
Strong Excel skills; ability to analyze large data sets.
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to support multiple properties when needed.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
