Driver Apprentice - Event Rentals

All Occasions, a prestigious event company, located in Eighty Four, PA, is seeking Driver Apprentices.

Will assist in loading and unloading vehicles/trucks and work with delivery personnel/driver and dispatch/delivery coordinator to deliver any equipment in full or partial loads. Must service customers in a polite, friendly and professional manner. May be required to assist customers with reservations, contracts, questions, register transactions and order adjustmentts.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Accurately load and unload deliveries according to invoice
• Prep equipment, if necessary, prior to loading
• Properly handle equipment to prevent damage
• Assist with the delivery and pick up of equipment
• Provide directional assistance when parking delivery truck
• Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and forklifts
• Read a road map and clearly communicate directions to the driver
• Know specifics and applications of rental inventory to answer questions upon delivery
• Double check delivered items to make sure customer receives exactly what was ordered
• Aid clients with questions and troubleshoot issues as needed, escalate to Dispatch as necessary
• Notify dispatcher or store if behind schedule, so customers may be contacted
• When picking up equipment if something is missing or broken, fill out appropriate forms and obtain customer's signature
• Verify pickup ticket copies were delivered to warehouse supervisor/manager so counts then can be verified prior to unloading
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form
• Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in store
• Attend department, store and safety meetings
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must possess customer relations skills
• Must be able to read a road map and clearly communicate directions to the driver
• Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems
• Must be able to speak English clearly and write legibly. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
• Previous experience in a similar role and/or warehouse environment desired
• Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times
• Familiarity with local roads and be able to read a road map
• Pass background check and drug screen
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed
• Must meet the physical requirements of the role
• Must be able to understand and complete instructions
• Ability to maintain a high degree of patience
• Proficiency in both verbal and written English
• Must be able to understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Work Location: On the road and/ or warehouse environment
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs
• Possess a full range of motion and dexterity
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat up to 8 hours a day
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various conditions including extreme temperatures, rain, and wind
• May be exposed to the general range of weather experienced in the area, with the exception of several hours in the warehouse loading and unloading and drive time. Some work areas may not be heated or air conditioned. May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene and cleaning solvents. Propane is an obvious hazard; hence a sense of smell is required. Some electrical equipment is delivered, although it is not a requirement to install or service the equipment. If lighting is required (the installation of extension cords and lamps), the drivers are provided with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFI) breakers. Stooping, crouching, bending, lifting, lowering, reaching, twisting, pulling, pushing, carting and carrying are intermittent tasks that routinely occur.
