The John O. Wilson Hamilton Neighborhood Center, Inc., a non-profit social service organization, located in Hamilton, NJ, committed to helping those in need, is hiring a part-time Administrative Assistant (AA) to the Executive Director (ED). Our mission is to strengthen individuals, support families and build thriving communities.
With the primary focus of providing administrative support to the ED, the AA must have experience working in the nonprofit sector, with a passion for helping others.
ESSENTIAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Greets clients, visitors, and guests. AA serves as the initial point of contact for the center, to internal and external partners and visitors.
- Exhibits leadership; builds relationships with visitors and guests; understands the impact of “first impressions” on the organization’s success.
- Demonstrates competency in communication, organization, technology, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Attentive to concerns directed to the office of the ED; maintains and communicates priorities and makes appropriate suggestions. Responsible for communicating on behalf of the ED, as directed.
- Responds to deadlines and is effective at time management.
- Screens phone calls and other forms of paper and digital communications.
- Interacts and participates as a member of the team; promotes and supports all center’s programs and initiatives.
- Responsible for other tasks and assignments as directed by the ED.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must have strong written, verbal, and organizational skills, and the ability to manage a wide variety of activities while balancing multiple priorities.Must be able to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and handle confidential matters with discretion.Must have a pleasant personality and capable of working with diverse populations.Must be punctual, reliable, and able to exercise good judgement.Must be a self-starter; takes initiatives, seeks opportunities, and proposes solutions.Must know how to operate basic office machinery / equipment (scanner, copier, fax, printer).Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License; occasional driving required.Must be able to lift 15 lbs.; to include bending, stocking, and packing.Bi-lingual (Spanish), a plus.REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree preferred.Clerical / administrative support to a senior level executive, preferably in the non-profit sector, a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms.Job Type : Part-time; on site.
Hourly Rate : $25 - $28 per hour; position not eligible for benefits or retirement contributions.
