Weber Gallagher has an immediate opening for a full-time Legal Practice Assistant for our New York City General Litigation practice. This is a hybrid position, working four days per week in our NYC office and one day per week remote. Candidates are required to have experience in New York law. The Legal Practice Assistant will provide reliable support to partners, associates, and paralegals within the practice.
Responsibilities :
- Calendar and follow-up on deadlines for discovery, Court events, etc.
- Contact Courts (confirm hearings, obtain dockets, e-filing procedures, etc.) and adjusters / clients as needed
- Schedule conference calls / meetings and handle scheduling / calendaring for their assigned team
- Open and close client files
- Associate and download documents, emails, and court filings into iManage document system
- Review invoices for payments and submit expense reports
- Prepare pleadings, discovery (requests and answers), e-filings to be filed (drafting and exhibits), and general correspondence
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings, including drafting witness lists and exhibit lists
- E-file legal documents in various courts (pleadings, motions, praecipes, etc.)
- Transcribe dictation and convert documents from PDF to Word
Qualifications :
