Position Summary :

The Hospice Aide reports to the Clinical Manager and is expected to function as a member of the health services team. The Home Health Aide is trained to provide personal care and related services in the home. The Hospice Aide is assigned to specific patients and functions under the direction, instruction, and supervision of the Staff Registered Nurse / Case Manager.

Required Experience for Hospice Aide :

• Currently Certified as a CNA in the State of Michigan.
• Minimum of 1 year of Hospice Aide experience in a health care or home care setting.
• CPR certification preferred, but not required.
• Current driver's license with current automobile insurance and must have reliable transportation.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Compliant with accepted standards and practices.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of providing patient care, ambulating patients, transferring patients, assisting with exercises, etc.
• Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Avid team player.
• Consistently maintains a positive attitude which promotes team and optimal performance.
• Must be empathetic, nonjudgmental, tactful, responsible, adaptable, organized, and committed to the purpose and objectives of the Agency.

General Working Conditions :

This position entails standing for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
