Litigation Paralegal Location: Portland, OR
Schedule: Full-Time, Hybrid (First 30 days fully onsite)
Salary: $87K-$125K + bonus eligible
Billable Requirement: 1,500 hours annually
Work Schedule: 40-hour work week (overtime required during trial or trial preparation)
LHH isan established law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys in complex litigation matters at both the state and federal levels. The Portland office consists of approximately 20 full-time employees. The team is close-knit, busy, and focused, with weekly Wednesday team lunches.
This role primarily supports two Managing Partners and provides limited support to two associates. The position reports to the Office Administrator.
Key Responsibilities - Manage and organize client documents, including electronic data; identify potentially relevant documents.
- Conduct litigation-related background checks and obtain authenticated records.
- Draft for attorney review:
- Removal documents
- Certificates of interested parties
- Answers and initial disclosures
- Motions and proposed orders
- Scheduling and protective orders
- Deposition notices
- Affidavits and declarations
- Discovery requests and responses
- Settlement agreements
- Dismissal documents
- Assist with motions for summary judgment (checking deposition citations, assembling exhibits, creating appendices).
- Prepare documents for production, including Bates labeling and redactions.
- Assist with trial preparation:
- Manage exhibits and evidentiary materials
- Prepare witness lists and subpoenas
- Coordinate and attend witness preparation meetings
- Provide trial support
- Conduct online legal research using electronic resources.
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining professionalism.
- Review vendor invoices and submit for processing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and project management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and perform under pressure.
- Experience working across multiple state and federal jurisdictions.
- Self-directed, adaptable, flexible, and teachable.
- Strong communication skills with proactive updates to attorneys.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with document review platforms and eDiscovery tools.
- Ability to craft search terms and review documents generated from those searches.
- Experience with Relativity or similar platforms preferred.
Requirements - Minimum 5+ years of complex litigation experience (class action experience preferred).
- Labor & Employment defense experience preferred but not required.
- Oregon and Washington litigation experience required; California experience a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Strong eDiscovery experience required.
