Summary
The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida is seeking two (2) faculty members at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Member level with a focus in population science to join its thriving research program in cancer epidemiology. Applicants with research portfolios in all areas relevant to cancer epidemiology spanning the continuum from cancer risk to interception and early detection, to cancer outcomes are encouraged to apply.
Moffitt’s Department of Cancer Epidemiology is home to 18 full-time and cancer center-affiliated faculty members engaged in high-impact scholarly activities spanning chemoprevention, nutrition, immunology, infection oncology, radiomics, screening and early detection, genetics / genomics, and personalized medicine covering diverse tumor types. Cancer Epidemiology faculty strive to translate research findings to inform advances in clinical / translational medicine and public health practice. With a current combined research portfolio of over $8M, faculty members draw upon Moffitt’s wealth of clinical and scientific expertise across a spectrum of oncology-related disciplines, an expansive health data warehouse of clinical and outcome data for more than 600,000 patients, and an institutional biobank encompassing 130,000 patients, along with research centers of excellence, and outstanding shared resources. Since 2011, the Cancer Epidemiology program has received the highest possible rating of Exceptional on each renewal of Moffitt’s P30 Cancer Center Support Grant, now under leadership of Dr. John Cleveland.
Successful candidates must have a PhD or MD (or equivalent) and relevant research training and experience. We are seeking academic researchers with a history of peer-reviewed publications and an extramural funding track-record for applicants at the Associate or Full Member level. With a rapidly expanding research faculty, Moffitt offers exceptional opportunity for career mentorship and advancement, and promotion to leadership positions within its academic and cancer center administrative frameworks.
Appointment at an academic rank beyond Assistant Member—equivalent to Assistant Professor—will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates applying at the Associate or Full Member level are expected to have a record of peer-reviewed extramural funding. Candidates applying at the Assistant Member level, which is a tenure-earning position, are expected to demonstrate success or show exceptional promise at obtaining peer-reviewed extramural funding.
